    Day 1New YorkNew York, NY : We depart on our international flight to Milan. Dinner and breakfast are served on board.
    Day 2VeniceVenice : Upon arrival in Milan, we are met by our tour escort and transfer via private motorcoach to Venice. We transfer to our hotel via private motor launch. The balance of the day is at leisure to rest or explore Venice on our own. Tonight we enjoy dinner and overnight in the Venice area. (D)
    Day 3VeniceVenice : Our exploration of Venice, nicknamed "la Serenissima," begins with a guided walking tour of St. Mark's Square, one of the largest open spaces in Venice. We visit two of its landmark buildings, the Basilica of San Marco and the Doge's Palace including the Bridge of Sighs. We also have a private boat ride to the island of Murano for a glass-blowing demonstration. We enjoy a free afternoon to explore on our own, sightsee, shop or take a gondola ride with music on one of Venice's scenic canals. Dinner and overnight in the Venice area. (B, D)
    Day 4FlorenceFlorence : This morning we set out for Florence in the heart of the Tuscany region. Following check-in at the hotel and some free time to settle in, we discover the wonders of Florence, "City of Art." We visit the Academy of Fine Arts to view Renaissance masterpieces, including Michelangelo's "David." We explore the wonderful Duomo, Giotto's Campanile (Bell Tower), the Baptistry, Plaza della Signoria, and Santa Croce, housing Michelangelo's tomb. Dinner and overnight in Florence. (B, D)
    Day 5FlorenceFlorence : Following breakfast, we head into the Tuscan countryside to explore this region's rich history and culture. We visit San Gimignano, a very well-preserved medieval town dating back to the 12th century, and have some free time to stroll the streets and taste the local wine, Verriaccie. We continue through the rolling hills of Tuscany to Volterra in the heart of the Acine Valley for some free time to sample the traditional cuisine and shop for the local specialty, works of alabaster. We return to Florence for some free time, dinner and overnight. (B, D)
    Day 6AssisiAssisi : Today we visit the medieval town of Siena to see the Basilica of San Domenico, where the incorrupt body of St. Catherine lies, and to explore the center and the Piazza del Campo on our own. We continue to Assisi with a stop at Lake Trasimeno, border between Tuscany and Umbria, en route. After settling into our hotel in Assisi, we have dinner and take a walk to the square for some refreshing gelato. Overnight in Assisi. (B, D)
    Day 7AssisiAssisi : We visit the sites of Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, including the Basilica of Santa Maria Degli Angeli (Our Lady of the Angels). Inside the Basilica, we explore the Portiuncola, the chapel of the Transitus and the Rose Garden. We continue to the Basilica of St. Clare, the Town Hall Square and the Basilica of St. Francis. We enjoy an afternoon at leisure to explore the lovely town with its quaint streets and alleys. Dinner and overnight in Assisi. (B, D)
    Day 8RomeRome : Following a morning at leisure, we depart for Rome, Italy's capital city. Following some free time at our hotel we enjoy dinner and a walking tour of Rome by night, featuring a stroll to Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain, as well as a panoramic bus tour of some of Rome's landmark buildings and squares such as Piazza Venezia, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Overnight in Rome.(B, D)
    Day 9RomeRome : A highlight of every visit to Rome is a guided tour of the interior of St. Peter's Basilica at Vatican City. As part of this morning's special visit, we spend time at the tomb of Pope John Paul II, before continuing to the world-renowned Vatican Museums and the spectacular Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's vivid frescoes. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (D)
    Day 10RomeRome : Today we participate in a full-day guided tour of "Christian" and "Imperial" Rome. We visit the Colosseum and view some of the other Imperial sites such as the Forum and Capitoline Hill. A highlight is a visit to the Pantheon, a Christian church since the 7th century. We continue to a number of the major basilicas in Rome including 1600-year-old St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome, and St. Paul Outside the Walls. This evening we gather at a local restaurant for a farewell dinner. Overnight in Rome. (B, D)
    Day 11New YorkNew York, NY : Following breakfast we transfer to Rome's Fiumicino Airport for our return flight, arriving the same day. (B)
